Description
This is part 3 of a set of 5 custom copper chimney caps for Cindy LoVullo with a house in Tierra Verde, Florida and in Grand Island, New York. They wanted this built in my Tuscany arch style, so I came up with this idea to make this with 2 arches along the short sides and 3 arches along the longer sides. Since solder would melt at 1/4 the heat of copper we are not able to use solder to assemble these. It has to be designed with slopes, overlapping seams, and riveted together w/o the benefit of solder or caulk, yet be water tight. Even drain outside if rain water gets blown in through the spark arrest screen from a wind storm. We also work hard to hide most of the fasteners on the mid-section focal point of these. This copper outside surfaces had been polished and waxed as well before this photo was taken.
